Horton Grove Door

Horton Grove Door.jpg

This photo demonstrates some of the skill of the timber framers at Stagville. In this one picture alone, one can see not only a great door that to this day still moves easily, closing and opening with no more difficulty than the original installation, but also one notices the pine flooring, interior siding, and brick-nogged timber frame. Of particular note is the brick nogging, which provided much aid to the insulation of the home and the protection of the inhabitants, ensuring that neither weather nor critters would easily find their way inside.
